Welcome to our World of Hope Restored!

“At Gift of life fertility agency, our commitment is to listen, guide and support you with our experience and kindness."
"Our promise is to continually strive to source and provide you with the largest database of the most suitable egg donors that we can possibly find.”

The statistics are that 33% of women older than 37 years, who present to a fertility clinic with infertility, will require the use of donor eggs to achieve a pregnancy. It is emotionally overwhelming to learn you may have to use an egg donor to become parents. As a fertility agency we are here, not only to assist you in choosing a suitable egg donor, but also to reduce any confusion, eliminate any added stress and guide you through your much-desired path to become parents.
Our mission is to help others experience the potential Gift ov life and joy of parenthood.

Even though all else may have failed in your “infertility path”, egg donation offers new hope. We recognize how life-changing and important choosing an egg donor is and the Gift ov life coordinators are here to assist you in making the right decisions and making the best possible choices.

We get our satisfaction from helping you along your journey to making your dream of a family come true.

The first test tube baby was born in 1978 and the first pregnancy with egg donation in South Africa, was performed at Cape Fertility Clinic, Cape Town in 1986. Egg donation has since become a regular and routine treatment over the past 22 years and the number of people seeking this form of fertility treatment has increased. You are not alone.

We encourage you to meet with us in person but, we also respect that for some intended parents their choice is to remain anonymous. This is your decision, which we will respect. Please be sure to view our Frequently Asked Questions for Egg Donor Parents.

“A baby is a miraculous gift from God, no matter how one receives it.
Some are given the ability bear them, others the ability to rear them.”

A STEP BY STEP ON HOW IT WORKS
You could be pregnant 3 months from today!

Step 1: View our Donor Database

Go to View our Donor Angels at www.giftovlife.com.
You will be prompted for a password, which will be emailed to you.
You may also email us directly at info@giftovlife.com if you would like us to match you with a suitable donor.
As you browse the donor database, should you find a donor that interests you, you may request a Detailed Profile of that donor under her online profile and we will email you a Detailed Profile of that particular donor. Donors are added regularly so take your time to review our database weekly.

Step 2: Selecting your Donor

When you find a donor that you would like to approach for egg donation we ask that you write her a simple, short letter requesting that she donate for you. Gift ov life will forward your Donor Letter to the donor and await her response.
Donors are given 48 hours in which to revert…however most donors revert instantaneously at the chance to give the potential Gift ov life.

Once the donor has accepted, you will be required to make a once off payment to Gift ov life of ZAR12 000. Your Gift ov life co-ordinator will then contact the clinic of your choice and make the necessary appointment for the donor to be seen by the doctor, where after she will have her blood tests. You and your partner are also required to have blood tests, the details of which will be communicated to you.
Donors are secured for 3 months and therefore her treatment cycle must have commenced within 90 days from the date of her acceptance to donate.

Timing: From the time you choose your donor until she has had her first doctors consultation and we receive the results of her blood tests (as well as your and your partners blood tests) usually takes 2-3 weeks.

Step 3: Cycle Co-ordination

The doctor and the IVF coordinator of your preferred clinic will make direct contact with you to discuss your and the donors treatment plans, your and the donors cycle co-ordination and the time line for donation and embryo transfer.
Timing: The time required for this part of the process varies from one donor/recipient to the next, depending on your cycles and whether or not the donor is on the Pill. Allow 6 weeks.

Step 4: Medication & Egg Retrieval

On the 3rd or so day of the donors co-ordinated cycle she will begin her hormone treatment, designed to stimulate egg maturation. You will also be advised on medication treatment to prepare your womb lining.
The doctor will, by way of a scan, determine when the donor eggs are ready for aspiration/ removal. The day of egg removal will follow and you will be advised of the number of eggs retrieved after the procedure.
Timing: This process takes 2 weeks.

Step 5: Fertilisation & Embryo Transfer

On the day that the eggs are removed they will be fertilized with your partners semen. You will be contacted each day thereafter with an update on how the embryos are growing!
Three to six days after fertilisation the embryo/s will be transferred to your womb in a simple, quick and pain free procedure.

Step 6: Are you pregnant!?

You will have to wait approximately 2 weeks to find out, via a blood test, whether you are pregnant! This waiting is the hardest part of the procedure!
Timing: 2 (long!) weeks

* All the timings provided in the steps above are guidelines. Exact timing varies from one case to the next.

I Will Be A Wonderful Mother - Author Unknown

There are women who become mothers without effort, without thought,
without patience or loss, and though they are good mothers and love their children, I know that I will be better.

I will be better not because of genetics or money or because I have read more books, but because I have struggled and toiled for this child.

I have longed and waited. I have cried and prayed. I have endured and planned over and over again. Like most things in life, the people who truly have appreciation are those who have struggled to attain their dreams.

I will notice everything about my child. I will take time to watch my child sleep, explore, and discover. I will marvel at this miracle every day for the rest of my life.

I will be happy when I wake in the middle of the night to the sound of my child, knowing that I can comfort, hold, and feed him and that I am not waking to take another temperature, pop another pill, take another shot or cry tears of a broken dream. My dream will be crying for me.

I count myself lucky in this sense; that God has given me this insight, this special vision with which I will look upon my child. Whether I parent a child I actually give birth to or a child that God leads me to, I will not be careless with my love.

I will be a better mother for all that I have endured.

Yes, I will be a wonderful mother.

Can acupuncture boost my fertility?

For couples who are in the process of IVF, but the verdict is still out on whether it can improve fertility in general. Some studies have shown promising results, but more research is needed before this can be confirmed that this form of therapy can help to make you fall pregnant. Acupuncture is based on the theory that vital energy (or “qi,” pronounced “chi”) flows through the body along certain pathways. Acupuncturists try to balance this energy and restore health by stimulating specific points along the pathways with thin needles. Although it has been a staple of Chinese medicine for some 5,000 years, acupuncture has gained acceptance in the American medical community only in the past few decades. In some research there have been suggestions that acupuncture is effective in reducing stress. Since stress has been shown to interfere with getting pregnant, it makes sense that reducing your stress through acupuncture could theoretically improve your odds of conceiving. Some wom

Myths about third party reproduction

Using third-party reproduction - egg donation - can be an emotional process.   While IVF has become increasingly well-recognized and discussed in popular media, third-party reproduction hasn’t received quite as much attention. This means there are some minor misconceptions regarding egg donation. Here are some myths about using third-party reproduction to start or grow your family: Myth #1: There’s something wrong with me Many times when intended parents learn they are unable to conceive traditionally, they feel lacking in some way. But the truth is, everyone’s journey to parenthood is different, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Thankfully with the major breakthrough in reproductive science, it has made the path to parenthood more accessible than ever before. Everyone deserves the opportunity to create their own family, and everyone’s journey is valid. Myth #2: Will it really be  my  baby Many many adoptive families all over the world know that love is about way more than just

Fertility tourism becoming trendy and more affordable

Take a quick vacation and come home pregnant! In the world of assisted fertility, in-vitro fertilization (IVF) is nothing new. Especially for females that are 40 and over, donor egg IVF, where eggs from a younger, more fertile donor are fertilized with the partner’s sperm, cultivated and then transferred to the prospective mom’s uterus – is often the only hope for achieving pregnancy. But for couples whose health insurance doesn’t cover infertility, the costs of these treatments can be prohibitively expensive; IVF with an egg donor costs an average of R50,000. That’s per try, pregnant or not pregnant at the outcome. So increasingly, fertility tourism is becoming more and more popular for couples and they are seeking international options in their quest for a baby.  They are looking into countries where the medical technology is on par with theirs and the costs are significantly less. Foreign couples can mix purpose with pleasure by making the required clinic visits, ta
